When Snowboarding Was Invented?

The thrilling sport of snowboarding was first invented nearly thirty-five years ago. It was in the year 1963 that a person called Tom Sims created the first snowboard using a plank of plywood. However, Tom Sims was not a professional. Interestingly, when he made this incredible invention, he was just thirteen years old and studied in school in 8th grade. He had made the first snowboard in one of his shop classes at school. He named his 'little' invention as 'Ski-board'. When Sim later grew up to become the proud owner of the only company that made and supplied snowboards, snowboarding became increasingly popular with sport aficionados across the world. However, the credit of inventing this sport and making it popular in the world is shared by many other people. In the year 1965, a snowboard, which was initially named as 'Snurfer', was invented by Sherman Poppen. These particular snowboards were made by bolting two skis with a rope that helped the riders to balance and stee r well. This made the sport so easy to practice that people of all ages began to indulge in the fun.Similarly, in the year 1979, the sport became even more popular with people with the invention of snowboards made of fiberglass. These special equipments were developed by Jake Burton Carpenter. In the early 1980s, steel edges were added to both sides of snowboards to ensure additional safety for riders when enjoying the sport. Thus, snowboarding was invented in 1963, but became increasingly popular with new innovations till the 1980s.
